Dark Frost, MYTHOS ACADEMY Book #3
Author:  Jennifer Estep

Synopsis:
I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

Our Review [by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Associate Reviewer Mich M.]:
Jennifer Estep proves once again that she deserves to be an 'auto-buy' author.

Dark Frost is set a few weeks after the events in Kiss of Frost, Christmas has been and gone and Gwen is getting ready to go back to Mythos Academy. Before returning to school everyone is visiting a Museum for some last minute research when the Reapers attack. The resulting blood-bath has repercussions for not only Gwen but her friends too. The hunt for the Helheim Dagger is on, who will be victorious?

I like Gwen, her heart is in the right place but she makes mistakes, she isn't perfect and doesn't pretend to be. I like that we get an idea of how everyone else is coping (or not coping) with their own developing powers. Relationships are strained but they are fighting for a common goal. I'm glad we discover Nott's purpose and the reason for Nickamedes anger. It certainly feels like the end of one story arc and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next!

I really enjoyed this installment in the Mythos Academy series, it was less predictable than the last one (although I figured out who the Reaper Girl was). It's certainly one of the best Young Adult series out there.

LITERAL ADDICTION's Associate Reviewer gives Dark Frost 4 1/2 Skulls.
