[Archive] LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of the Paris Secrets Trilogy

Michele Renae

An author of over 50 stories in the fantasy, action/adventure, historical and paranormal romance genres, this prolific author now writes erotica as Michele Renae. [For those of you that don’t know, Michele Renae is Michele Hauf in her other persona. :)].

Michele is good at daydreaming, kitty wrangling, navigating Paris from memory, and locating parking spots close to the front door. She is not so good at making bath bombs, being patient in line at the Post Office, and reading only one book at a time.

You can connect with Michele online at her Website, on Facebook, on Twitter and on GoodReads.

Paris Secrets Trilogy
Paris Secrets Books #1 - #3 - Window, Screen & Skin

RELEASE DATE 8/12/14

--Buy the paperback from Amazon (all 3 books also available individually in eBook) & coming from B&N, and other Retailers

This fun and flirty erotic romance trilogy is comprised of the stories, WINDOW, SCREEN, and SKIN.

Set in Paris, it follows the American heroine who discovers her fantasy man lives across the street from her—and a window affair begins. Mutual self-pleasure graduates to cyber-sex, and then in the concluding story, they finally come together, skin to skin.

WINDOW: The first time she sees her new neighbor, his sexy smile arouses her curiosity—and her desires. His hard, chiseled muscles and playful invitations are irresistible. Bared before their windows, framed and displayed above the streets of Paris, they embark upon a provocative affair.
Their daring game of exhibitionism lures her back for more and more, and she quickly realizes he is the man she has dreamed about.
Yet she's never heard his voice. Never felt his touch. Never thought she'd experience something this exquisite.
Or this bold...

SCREEN: She fell willingly, seduced by the erotic foreignness of all that he was. Words can be more powerful than touch. Stimulate and engage the senses, then watch what happens...
They began a daring affair a few weeks ago, baring skin, sensual secrets—their very souls—before their bedroom windows, situated across the street from one another. Now they've taken it to the next level. The laptop screen has added sound to their intimate liaisons, and his voice, that delicious French accent, is oh, so sexy. His laughter teases good shivers across her skin, and his sensual commands seduce her deeper into a world of erotic play. Fantasies lure them into a new intimacy and a surprising trust that the two strangers who have never touched welcome.
Yet frustrations grow as she pines for his touch. They must meet. Soon. But a secret is revealed that will challenge their desires and the trust both have earned.

SKIN: Exquisite. Bold. Gorgeous. Those were the words that lured her into the Frenchman's heart.
What began as a flirtatious, daring affair behind windows between the American woman who learned to set her inner vixen free, and the handsome, light-hearted Monsieur Sexy, advanced to the delicious intricacies of cyber-sex. But she is still waiting for his touch.
Finally, the lovers abandon their apprehensions and come together, all senses engaged: sight, sound, smell, and now the delicious glide of his masterful hands over her skin, and the taste of his intoxicating kiss. A dashing musketeer, black velvet Louboutins, and Da Vinci's mysterious Mona Lisa all become a part of their inventive sexual liaisons.
They have shared their most intimate selves with one another in every way, yet there are still challenges that will try their connection and force them to decide, once and for all, if they are meant for one another...
...or if secrets will break them apart.

Incredible trilogy. Definitely not to be missed....

WINDOW:
Window is a super sexy debut novel in a new erotica trilogy unlike anything I've read before!

There is just something so incredibly naughty and titillating about forming a 'relationship' with nothing but sight - 'you can look, but you can't touch'... Or talk... Yet what they SHARE is more private, personal and intimate than anything else.

It's self pleasure and voyeurism at its best. It's one of those highly sexual books that isn't filled with 'in your face' eroticism, but requires you to feel, and think, and fantasize right along with your leading couple, thereby getting your pulse racing and your flush rising.

It's got a quirky female lead that you can't help but love, a sexy, chivalrous male lead that will melt your heart, and even the cliff hanger didn't upset me too much, because I knew there would be more, and I absolutely CANNOT wait to get lost in this teasing, artful seduction again!

SCREEN:
Yet another surprising and sinfully sexy read by Michele Renae. I breezed through it in one long setting, and wanted nothing more than the third book of the trilogy immediately afterward.

Picking up where Window (book #1) left off, our leading couple takes their relationship to the next level. After discovering one another with nothing more than sight across a Paris alley, they add sound to the mix, and jump into a cyber relationship from Berlin to Paris, still keeping to their rules of engagement.

Given the sheer genius of the way these books are written, it's hard to write a review without spoilers. Suffice it to say that Michele ramped up the fantasy, added a sense, threw in a wrench, and had my heart rate elevated almost the entire time with Screen, and I cannot wait for the finale to the trilogy, Skin.

PARIS SECRETS is one of the most engaging, unique, and titillating series I have encountered. The romance is sweet, the erotic elements are off the chart steamy (and all without touch if you can believe it), the characters super lovable, and the tone light and fun...until twist that Michele introduces towards the end of Screen, which serves as a reminder that the best happily ever afters don't come easily.

SKIN:
I honestly can't think of a better way for Michele to end the series.

There were some seriously sexy times, some really fun scenes, some slightly dark (and very human) moments, and under it all, heart and emotion that impacted me on a deeply visceral level.

I ran the gamut of emotions in this book, and that is a true sign of good storytelling, and quite honestly, I can't thank Michele enough for allowing me to take this journey with her characters.

I loved it!

TRILOGY:
Engaging, enthralling, utterly sexy, fun, flirty, and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

[Archive] LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of Women of War

Lisa Beth Darling has been married for the last 25 years to her wonderful husband, Roy. The two live in New London, CT where they raised two (now adult) daughters.

Her latest full-length novel The Heart of War blends timeless Greek Mythology with Erotica, Romance, and Suspense as Ares God of War falls in love with Alena, a seemingly fragile Fey. The lovely Alena is on the run from Cernunnos, Celtic God of the Forest and Death. The peace and quiet of Ares' secluded Greek isle is interrupted when the Olympians demand he turned her over to them. Glorious battles, hot romance, and dark passions combine in "The Heart of War".

On December 31, 2011 A God is Born when Ares and Alena and welcome their son, Raven into the world in Child of War

Lisa proudly boasts that her writing career began in her junior high school years, around the 7th grade. A fact which her fellow students adored but often got her called down to the Guidance Counselor's Office to discuss her stories. Not deterred by the counselors but instead spurred onward by them, her teachers, and her classmates, Lisa continued to hone her craft throughout those formative years.

Today, Lisa brings conflict, passion, love, and suspense to unique couples through her full length novels. Women of War
OF WAR Book #4.5

Buy from Amazon / B&N / iTunes / Smashwords

Venture on a Mystical Journey through Time and Secrets Past
This story spans four generations of women in Alena's family from her great-grandmother, Shar DraĆocht the last known Queen of the Dark Kingdom. Morrowind, her tortured daughter. Maven, Alena's free spirited mother. And ends the night Alena washed up on Ares' shore. With intensity, lust, fear, and strength these Women of War make their way in the world revealing the hidden truths of the past and Ares true connection to his beloved Wife, Alena.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

What an incredible additional installment to the Of War series. Still just as sexy, dark, dangerous and gritty as the rest, but a delightful peek into all of those little holes that we didn't quite have the full story for in books #1 - #4.

We get Alena's full backstory in this book. Learn how she ended up with her father, where she really came from, what the difference is between the light and dark kingdoms, find out how she met Artemis, what really happened with Eros and Apollo and more...

Lisa Beth tells the story of Alena's great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother to lay the foundation of the Light Fey and Dark Fae in a truly captivating manner. She delves into their lives, hardships, and expresses - as only Lisa Beth can - the sacrifices made.

Over the course of the series I've always been a bit humbled by Alena's strength and after reading Women of War I realized where a lot of it came from. She has never had an easy life. She was rejected, abandoned, lived in fear, suffered more hardship than any one person should, and yet bounced back with even more conviction, strength, and inner light. And while Lisa has always made it known that Apollo is not a character you will ever love, after reading Women of War you will truly despise him. There have been some nasty Gods in these books, characters that literally turned your stomach, some that were able to redeem themselves in future installments, but now that we have the 'true' story of what happened with Alena, Apollo and Ares, you will never look at any of them the same again.

Women of War still held true to the style that fans of the series have come to know and love. There were parts that were really tough to read - very violent, explicit, etc - and yet, they were told with such talent that it simultaneously made me uncomfortable (something I always look forward to with these books actually, LOL) and awed me.

Women of War is an utterly captivating thrill-ride that will have you thinking long after the last page is turned, however, I do not suggest reading Women of War without having read and enjoyed the other books of the series first. This is definitely a series that builds and each book is another level from the one before. I cannot wait to see how Lisa Beth brings about the finale of the series and I am SO excited to jump into Kingdoms of War next. :)

One night in the bed of the Goddess of Love can be painful but one night in the bed of the Golden God can kill and destroy all that Ares and Alena have built and endured. To ensure that her beloved Husband and her Son are not put to death she may have no other choice.

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

I have been a fan of this author and series since book #1, and Lisa Beth stays true to her niche with a dark, dangerous and beautifully disturbing 4th installment in the OF WAR series. As I've said in every review of the series so far, these books are not for the faint of heart - they're dark, violent, and a bit depraved - but if you like mythology, horror, and dystopia, you will enjoy Lisa's no holds barred approach to erotic paranormal.

After a devastating ending to Alena and Ares's relationship in the last book, Child of War - Rising Son reunites the couple and makes their partnership even stronger. Elsewhere, the boy we love to hate, Raven, is continuing his rampage of immature and unforgivable acts in his attempt to prove that he's a 'true' Olympian.

There are so many things going on in this book and each and every one will have you glued to the page each step of the way, right up to the twist at the end that will leave you a bit breathless.

I'm definitely looking forward to Women of War and the next step in this truly unique and unforgettable series.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

--Actual rating 4.5 Skulls

Fireborn kicks off a new UF series for the wonderful Keri Arthur, and it was so very Keri. :) What do I mean by that? If you're a diehard fan of Keri's series like I am, you'll find another strong, independent heroine that needs sex to survive, romance partners that aren't quite fated to be but work so very well, action aplenty, plot twists that surprise, world building that shows incredible promise to grow, and a character cast that you can't help but love.

But while Fireborn had all of the things that I adore in a Keri Arthur book, it also had a new and interesting mythos - the Phoenix - which are cursed, an apocalyptic-type conflict in the form of a immortality virus gone horribly wrong, numerous 'big bads' that are exciting in their own right, and some surprises that are right there for the taking but never quite revealed. Yet. ;-)

I am really excited to see where Keri takes this series, and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

I would definitely recommend this book for ALL Keri Arthur fans and urban fantasy fans that like their story arcs broad and building, their heroines feisty and strong, a bit of conflict in the love department, and plenty of action and intrigue.

Jian, Master of the House Xanthe, has devoted his life to returning his family to their former prominence. When he’s offered a contract to hunt down the missing Sovereign, he’s eager to accept. The last thing he expects is to encounter a stunningly beautiful angel who stirs more than his lust.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

From four masters of PNR comes a new and thrilling continuity about Incubi that I absolutely loved!

Four different tales, each revolving around the Master of one of the Incubi Houses and the Nephilim, all tied together in a thrilling, action packed and super sexy compilation where in fighting abounds, treachery and subterfuge are common, betrayal runs rampant, and allies and love come in/from the most unlikely places.

The first story by Lara Adrian introduces the Master of House Gravori and Temple Blade Nephilim Nahiri. "Devil" is looking for vengeance and the truth about the murder of his brother and takes Nahiri hostage as leverage. After spending time with her, he realizes that there's more to the murder of his brother and something much larger is going on with the Council and the Throne, and finds that he is utterly slayed by the sexy and strong hybrid.

In the second book by Donna Grant, the Master of House Romerac has been betrayed and locked away in the Oubilette. While trying to discover who cursed him to his prison, he runs into a Nephilim hiding from her family and her fate as a brood mare and finds that balance and love are easier to find than he ever expected.

Incubus Master Scarus Vipera is probably one of the most feared Incubi in existence in the third book by Laura Wright, but he has a past that not many people know about. Visiting the Harem to replenish his energy and continue his quest, he uncovers more than he bargains for when he chooses the feisty Rosamund for his night of pleasure.

And last, but certainly not least, in the last story by Alexandra Ivy, the Master of House Xanthe embraces his assumed title as spy and tries to uncover the secrets abounding within the Houses, Throne and Council. While doing so, he meets the lovely angel Muriel and they work together to discover whats been going on with the rumors of the missing Masters and the underlying evil that seems to be stemming from their current Sovereign.

All put together, the continuity collection creates a beautifully intertwined story of intrigue, romance, and action played out with steamy sex scenes and an intricately woven plot that twists and turns and utterly captivates. I love the way the authors took each of their individual voices and shared aspects of the world to bind the tales together and I can't wait for the next installment! I most definitely recommend Masters of Seduction to fans of any/all of these authors and PNR fans far and wide.

My only complaint was the quickness with which each of the couples fell in love, but alas, that is always my complaint with PNR novellas since there is only so many pages to work with and we need the HEA. At least with these, you get the insta-lust and love, but you also get an HEA with a twist, making the reader want more and leaving us wondering what will happen next, thus making the next volume that much more lusted after. :)

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:
*Read in the After Dark Anthology

Shadow Hunter was an action packed, dark, dangerous and sexy thrill ride, and as a prequel to a new and thrilling series, it captivates and captures.

Our hero, Damon, is a vampire hunter seeking vengeance. While on his mission, his path intersects with his deceased partner's younger sister and sparks fly. Working together to find the murder and get justice, they are embroiled in a strange new plot being unleashed by the vamps.

Intriguing and entertaining, Kait hooked me with this prequel and I can't wait to read more in the EXECUTION UNDERGROUND series. I would definitely recommend this novella. Kait's voice is fresh and exciting, and while the ideas aren't utterly unique, they're different enough to grab you and keep you interested and given the fascinating world building and depth of character Kait has introduced in Shadow Hunter, I can see SO many ways that this series could go and I can't wait to take the journey! :)

Erin Kellison: stories have always been a central part of Erin's life. She attempted her first book in the 6th grade, a dark fantasy adventure, and still has those early hand-written chapters. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English Language and Literature, and went on for a masters in Cultural Anthropology, focusing on oral storytelling. When she had children, nothing scared her anymore, so her focus shifted to writing fiction. But there are also unknown dangers Darkside; nightmares are slowly infiltrating not only dreams, but the waking world as well.

Revel with me.

--Actual rating 4.5 Skulls

Night's Deep Hush was another fabulous installment to the series that has become like a drug for me. I can't get enough, I always want more, I get completely swept away while reading, & I tell everyone they need to try it. ;-) So, SO good. Erin is a master storyteller & she does dark fairytales like no other.

Each book of the REVELER series thus far as featured a different couple and allowed the reader to get engrossed in the world. Night's Deep Hush brings all of those characters back together and elaborates on the overall story arc of the series while introducing additional intrigue for future installments, and the secrets of the series's 'big bad' are being revealed and are oh so titillating!

While I've loved every book of the series, book #2 was probably my least favorite, book #1 was my favorite of them all, and this one (#4) was a very close second as it reminds me why I adore Erin Kellison's writing so much. It's intricate, poetic, action packed, dark, dangerous, intriguing, and yet sexy, and it will allow you to get completely lost for a bit.

These books are super fast paced and intense, the characters are totally fascinating, the world is utterly incredible and unique, and you will always be left wanting to know who might be center stage in the next book and what else might be revealed.

I highly recommend this series to all fans of dark urban fantasy, but I do suggest reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment. :) Revel a little... you won't be disappointed!

Terrified he’s going to lose her, he takes her on a hunt for The Book of the Dead, which is the only way he knows he can save her—even if it means she’ll hate him forever.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:

This was a very enjoyable, quick read bundle. I actually read them as standalones, but back-to-back-to-back, and while they can be read out of order, reading them together and in order as they are presented in this Bundle would be my suggested way to enjoy them. :)

Curse of the Phoenix is a collection of three stories about strong, independent, beautiful women that have been made into Phoenix by the god Osiris and charged with saving destined souls by taking their place in death, while atoning for sins made in their previous lives. The world building was intricate and complex, yet beautifully crafted with deep, multi-faceted characters. The individual tales were slightly dark, but flowed with a wonderful tempo and ended with the HEA that we all long for in good paranormal romances.

Each book centered around one of the Phoenix, starting with Ice, followed by Arabella and Sadie, yet each was part of the others story and brought the entire bundle together.

There was a bit of an underlying 'message' in each book, as well. I felt that book 1 was full of hope, book 2 was all about forgiving yourself and book 3 showcased how opposites sometimes are the best partnerships. The dialogue was utterly intriguing and I loved the witty banter, the action - while not quite as in your face as urban fantasy - was perfect for the tales as they were told, and there was just enough intrigue to keep you guessing a bit.

Overall I really enjoyed the Curse of the Phoenix bundle. Book #2 was my favorite of the 3, but all of them kept me engaged and wanting more. I most definitely recommend this bundle if you're looking for an engaging quick read that will allow you to get lost in fantasy if only for just a bit. :)

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Bewitching Bella - Charity:

I devoured this book!! Before I start with the review I want to stress that if you haven't read this series you should start with the prequel to the series, Entasy. It was a beautiful way to set up the world and this series.

Redemption picks up 2 weeks after Entasy ends and our main character are now faced with the consequences for their actions. Kylah with her decisions from 200 years ago and Aerric with how he feels regarding her choices and not to mention the affection of another man towards his beloved. Kylah struggles with her destiny and massive guilt that she most over come to save the ones she loves. Even though Kylah has A LOT going on she is not a whiny female heroine which instantly has me loving her.

We are not lacking for characters to love in this series and hopefully Brynn has their stories coming to us in the very near future. As humorous as some of the characters are I know that the Nine are going to be facing battles that will test themselves and each other through out this series and I LOVE IT!!!

One thing that has me so obsessed with this series is all the Celtic lore running through it's pages. Redemption is fast paced, it slows down and focuses when needed and picks up when its expected to, which is always refreshing in a series.

I really cant wait for Book 2!!!!
