Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, CHARLEY DAVIDSON #4
Author: Darynda Jones
Synopsis:
Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.
In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.
Darynda Jones's Charley Davidson series is easily one of my favorite series and I am constantly recommending it to people. I have yet to find another series that combines the incredible levels of humor, fantastic dialogue, lovable characters, sexy romance, high octane action and nail biting mystery that Darynda delivers in each and every Charley Davidson installment. While this wasn't my personal favorite installment of the series it was still amazing and brought what I come to love and pine for from Darynda Jones.
This release lets readers see a more insecure and slightly more human side of Charley that I thoroughly enjoyed; even though it was hard to watch her go through what she did. We also find out a bit more about what Charley is capable of, but I can tell there are leagues to go where that is concerned. :)
We get more Reyes in this installment as well, and seriously... more Reyes is ALWAYS a good thing!
In true Darynda Jones fashion, the mystery of the story had me second guessing what was going on several times. She finds the most creative ways to wrap things up and I absolutely loved it. There were at least 4 different cases that Charley was involved in during the span of this book and they all came together beautifully at the end.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet 4 1/2 Skulls. I'm still a diehard Charley Davidson fan and I cannot wait for more!
