[Archive] LITERAL ADDICTION's Review of Infinite Betrayal

Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie both hail from the Midwest.  Writing partners as well as friends (perhaps even sisters in another life), both are married and each has two wonderful children. The similarities don’t stop there. Both earned degrees in English education, both have a profound weakness for Starbucks coffee, and both are completely captivated by the ethereal beauty found in the Pacific Northwest. Their individual passions for writing and storytelling, led them to create Infinite Betrayal, the first book in their Infinity Series.

Infinite Betrayal, Infinity Series #1
Authors:  Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie
Synopsis:  Mina Roarke had always been told she was special. In what way, she never fully understood until circumstances led her down a path of adrenaline-charged danger, blazing sexual heat and ultimate betrayal.  Mathias, a warrior for a secret shifter race known as The Coteri, has been ordered to protect Mina at all costs. Although his oath to protect her is paramount, can he rein in his animal instincts long enough to not claim the one person he’s forbidden to have?

Our Review:
As we believe it has been said before, this book was a non-stop adrenaline charge from the moment it started until the moment it ended.
The story follows Mina Roarke through life’s ups and downs.  You suffer with her losses and trying to find purpose in life afterward, you agonize with her over hard decisions regarding the unknowns in her life, and you get on board with her best friend pushing her in the right direction for the decisions she just is not able to make on her own.  You will FEEL her emotion, page by page, and empathize with what she is going through step by step, and yes, you will need a tissue once in awhile!
The places described throughout the book make you want to go out and purchase your plane tickets and get hotel reservations immediately.  Everything is so incredibly vivid and captivating.  You want to be Mina Roarke and go where she is going, meet who she is meeting… despite what she goes through, and what she goes through is a non-stop life changing episode of epidemic proportion.
When you meet Mathias, Mathias is a man torn between honor and duty as he does his best to see to fruition that which he was charged to do; protect Mina at all costs.  Add in the unrelenting attraction for Mina that pulls him in 100 other directions and you can’t help but feel for him and love him right away.  You cheer for him to keep Mina out of danger, but you deperately want him to keep his heart safe as well.
The book also introduces the reader to a unique race of shapeshifters, which makes this paranormal romance refreshing and new.  These shapeshifters are split into two sects, and the high voltage interaction of the hero sect and its nemesis is enough to keep the reader captivated even outside of the hero/ heroine/romance-adventure plotline.
LITERAL ADDICTION Paranormal Book Club gives Infinite Betrayal 5 Skulls for its creativity, dynamic plot, entrancing characters, and everything else that made us not want to put the book down, be angry when it ended, and yearn for Infinity #2.

We highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a ‘grab you by the seat and don’t let go’ paranormal romance!  Hooray for Gayle and Robyn and their breakout hit!
